My Ride or Die low end to high end foundations

There are a tonne of foundations to choose from these days and it’s one of the most confusing and money wasting things to perfect or your lifestyle and skin.

It has taken me years to find foundations that suit what I’m going to use them for, especially as I have sensitive combination skin. I used to blog about finding my perfect every day foundation, which thankfully I found and still love, however this is a complete list of my Ride or Die foundations and what occasions I use them for.

Pixi by Petra Holiday Collection 2016

Last week I was invited along to see Pixi’s new Holiday collection at the St Davids Hotel in Cardiff Bay. I’ve always loved Pixi products and I haven’t had the chance to go to London recently to see what’s new so I was excited to see Amanda for a catch up and what was new for this season.

Pixi Beauty H20 Skin Tint Review

After seeing this online and talking to Global Makeup Artist Amanda in store on one if my visits, I knew I had to try this product. As you know, I’ve been looking for a day time foundation to just apply quickly or to wear under powder when my skin doesn’t need a lot of coverage. To be honest, cheaper brands haven’t worked for me because the formula changes too quickly in the bottle or it feels horrible and effects my skin. So with this in mind, I went back to basics, looking at new products from brands I know and use daily.

This product is water based, so it hydrates skin and combats oil, it has coverage which is buildable and evens out the tone of skin, which is great for when I do need more than just a sheer tint, and products can be applied on top for if I want a matter look. Sounded like the product I’ve been looking for.

Pixi Flawless Finishing Powder Review!

I think once or twice a month I will do a review of a Pixi by Petra / Pixi Beauty review. I literally own the majority of their collection, this is due to me being a makeup artist in their Cardiff counter in Boots from 2011 – 2012 when they sadly got discontinued, but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of working for such a loving brand. I loved their products and I still continue to purchase their makeup now! These reviews will be absolutely my own opinion, as these products are mostly repurchases of ones I had been given at my time at Pixi, or purchased after they were pulled from Boots directly from the Pixi store in Carnaby Street.

Now on to the review!

Today I will be reviewing a product that is essential for the summer, which is a translucent powder. Great for topping up makeup, absorbing oil, finishing the makeup, and helping it stay on the skin longer. This finishing powder is a little special as it has some illuminating shimmery tones in it.

Time used: 3 years.

Price: £16.50

This powder comes with a handy sponge in a secret compartment for top ups during the day.

Pixi Beauty holiday mini review!

I was so excited to see what Petra and the gang could conjure up this Christmas and I was thrilled they brought out a mixture of things to mix and match from.

For me the most striking items from the collection were the eyeliner and lipgloss set, I have many many manyyy Pixi glosses and seeing they have a new formula for these I had to pick one up, as well as their iridescent iris endless silky eye pen, which I’m never disappointed by as all the colours I’ve got from the endless silly eye pen line have stayed put all day.

I just bought the Pixi Eye Glow Cube, and to be honest I do love the colours in the larger pallet but it would just be greedy if i bought it as I have barely used the Eye Glow Cube.

Review to follow for the lipglosses and eye pencil!

Price: £20.50

Contact lens friendly makeup, does it exist?

I have worked in the makeup industry professionally for around 3 years now, and I have to admit, I didn’t really understand what anyone was talking about when they’d ask me “Is this contact lens friendly?”

(image from http://www.goodlookingoptics.co.uk)

And being a newcomer with lenses I still don’t understand.

So what exactly is contact lens friendly makeup?! And what products are suitable?
